Logging your volunteer hours — and being able to prove them
Doing the hours is the easy part. The problem arrives months later, when you have to show they happened and all that is left is a memory and maybe an email.
The problem, before the solution
A paper log gets lost. A confirmation email disappears into an inbox. The supervisor who oversaw you moves on. By the time someone asks you for proof, there is often nothing verifiable left.
How MonGig records your hours
You log your hours in your dashboard, week by week. They stay pending until the organization reviews them, then it validates or rejects them — with an explanation if it rejects. You are notified either way.
Only validated hours count after that. An hour you logged but nobody confirmed appears nowhere as earned.
- You log them — status “pending”.
- The organization validates or rejects, with a reason if rejected.
- Validated hours accumulate in your profile.
- A certificate can be generated from those validated hours.
The certificate, and what it is worth
The certificate MonGig produces states the organization, the number of validated hours and the period. It carries an identifier anyone can verify online — your school, an admissions committee, a future employer. It is not a letter you could have written yourself: verification confirms the information at the source.
What MonGig cannot promise
This needs saying plainly. MonGig does not decide whether your school, your school board or a programme accepts your hours. Each institution has its own rules — about the kind of organization, the period covered, the form the proof takes — and MonGig has no agreement with any of them about it.
What we can do is give you a record validated by the organization and verifiable online. If your school has specific requirements, ask them before you start rather than after.
Frequently asked questions
Who validates my hours?
The organization or employer you did the hours for, from their own dashboard. You cannot validate your own hours — that would be worthless.
Will my school accept these hours?
That is your school’s call, not ours. MonGig provides a validated, verifiable record; the decision to accept it belongs to the institution. Check their requirements before you start.
Is this an official government document?
No. It is a certificate issued by MonGig from hours an organization validated, verifiable online. It does not come from any public authority.
What if the organization rejects some hours?
It has to give a reason, and you receive it. Rejected hours count neither toward the total nor in the certificate.
